I used to be a simple gal who avoided statement pieces because they felt out of my comfort zone. However, lately, I’ve been looking for a subtle earthy print that helps me express my personality through my outfits. And…well, I fell in love with the world of floral prints. So, in honor of the first day of Spring, I asked the tuikwerd team about the creative process of designing all the floral prints we love!

Floral patterns can be vibrant and bold, but they can also be soft and romantic. If your everyday wardrobe tends to be neutral tones, a design like flowers can be a versatile piece that can elevate daily outfits. Or, if you’re looking for a flirty element to your night outfits, you can opt for darker toned floral patterns. Our floral designs, inspired by Puerto Rican flora, highlights what we want to display through our clothes: colorful, tropical, fresh, and timeless.

In tuikwerd, rayon is our signature base fabric –which makes clothes feel soft, breathable, and lightweight– ideal for hot tropical weather. We use three variations of rayon: Rayon Flat (smooth fabric with no texture), Rayon Crinkle (wrinkled texture), and Rayon Voil (thinner and flowy.) All these fabrics are taken into consideration during the creative process with floral patterns. Besides flower patterns, our other playful prints can come from various inspiration sources like current trends and seasonal colors. We also get inspired by paintings, textures, and even pattern books.

En tuikwerd, el rayón es nuestra tela base, que hace que la ropa se sienta suave, transpirable y liviana, ideal para el clima tropical. Usamos tres variaciones de rayón: Rayón Flat (tela suave sin textura), Rayón Crinkle (textura arrugada) y Rayón Voil (más delgada y fluida). Todas estas texturas se toman en cuenta durante el proceso creativo con motivos florales. Además de las flores, nuestros otros estampados llegan de varias fuentes de inspiración, como los son las tendencias de moda y los colores de temporada. También nos inspiramos en pinturas, texturas e incluso libros de estampados.
